PEM Electrolyzer Stack Testing System

The BMG Electrolyzer Stack Testing System enables innovative, efficient, and safe end-of-line testing for PEM electrolyzer stacks >1 MW. It ensures the safety and performance of this key hydrogen production technology through automated contacting at the anode, cathode, and power supply. This automation reduces test time, increases accuracy, and minimizes human error. A cutting-edge explosion protection concept ensures safe operation, tailored to hydrogen-specific requirements. The flexible testing software adapts to various test protocols and offers customizable data evaluation, supporting quality assurance in stack production.

Customized Electrolyzer System

Our customized BMG Electrolyzer (2.5 MW) is a high-performance, scalable solution for sustainable hydrogen production. It delivers up to 46 kg/h (514 Nm³/h) of hydrogen with ISO 14687-2:2012 purity, operating at 28–32 bar. Power consumption ranges from 320 to 3000 kW, with water use between 35 and 640 kg/h, depending on capacity. Housed in 40-foot containers, the system integrates electrolysis, gas purification, and cooling. A user-friendly dashboard allows for seamless monitoring and control. Its compact, modular design ensures certified, safe hydrogen production—ideal for a wide range of industrial applications.

Assembly of PEM Electrolyzer Stacks & Components

We offer scalable manufacturing and assembly solutions for PEM electrolyzer stacks and components—ranging from sample production to full-scale mass manufacturing. Designed to handle large and heavy products, our systems support loads of up to 2.5 tons and enable efficient handling throughout the assembly process. By applying simultaneous engineering and precise automation, we ensure accurate and repeatable stack assembly. Key processes such as adjusting, screwing, pressing, and leakage testing are fully integrated and digitally monitored through a closed-loop control system. Our solutions are tailored to meet the demands of high-throughput, high-quality PEM stack production in industrial environments.

AEM Stack Testing

Our AEM stack testing solutions support both single-cell and full-stack testing, with power ranges from 100 W to 200 kW. They enable precise material screening, performance analysis, and system validation under realistic conditions.Modular testing covers single-cell applications from 10 W to 1 kW, with multi-channel setups for parallel screening and durability testing. For stack testing from 10 kW to 200 kW, the system assesses overall electrolyzer performance—monitoring pressure, temperature, and flow. Built to IEC 62061 standards, it includes safety features like equal-pressure venting and oxygen-hydrogen detection, matching the performance and safety of modern PEM test benches.

SOEC Stack Testing

Our SOEC test systems support short and full stack testing for GEN1 and GEN2 across a wide power range from 50 W to 15 kW. Designed for high-temperature applications up to 850 °C, the platform includes integrated ELA, precise cell voltage measurement, and custom-developed hot boxes for realistic testing conditions. All common anode gas compositions can be implemented, and an integrated reformer allows operation with natural gas. With flexible, configurable test cycles and high thermal efficiency, the system offers reliable performance evaluation for advanced SOEC development.
